Assignment 2

Hey again! This is my second assignment for Reading for College Success. For this assignment I am able to read whatever I want! There were so very many things to choose from. I could read a book, magazine, newspaper, short story, or whatever else! It was very hard to decide. However, I chose and will leave the rest up to the other blogs I have to do.
I chose to read a poem. I read the poem called Richard Cory and it is written by Edwin Arlington Robinson. After I read the poem and realized that I really liked the poem. I have read many poems that I have liked but this poem was different.

Here is a summary of the poem:

The poem is about a man named Richard Cory. Richard Cory is a symbol of wealth and prosperity. He was a picture of what everyone around him wanted to be. He was rich, well mannered, and well dressed. I don't wish to tell the whole poem but the ending is sad. It tells you that even the richest people are not happy. I like this poem because it reminds its readers that money and material things are not every thing and even if you have all that, it doesn't mean that you are happy. If I were taking notes in class I would probably use a list. When taking notes I prefer to use list format. I feel like that would be best out of the choices for this anyway.

Thank you for reading my blog. I recommend reading the poem. It is a sad poem but poems with emotion and feeling are always the best. If you want to read the poem here it is enjoy :)

Richard Cory
By: Edwin Arlington Robinson

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean-favoured and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good Morning!" and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich, yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine -- we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked and waited for the light,
And went without the meat and cursed the bread,
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet in his head.
